Yet another blog

I already have a live journal account, however I use that for more than just documenting what I might have created.
Whereas there I might share something modern I've done, or my thoughts on something, here my intention is to keep it strictly on vintage fashion I'm re-creating. That may include steampunk, however the key will be the vintage element incorporated into the piece.
My hope is to use this as a place to keep track of things I'm sewing. I'm terribly disorganized offline. My sewing room often looks like a hurricane hit it if I'm doing more than one thing.
But perhaps here it'll look neater, and make more sense :)
Currently, I'm up to my eyebrows in things I'm sewing, but I won't bore anyone with my petticoat project. Mainly because it's just another plain petticoat. I will however reserve a spot for a petticoat skirt I intend to create, either scratch or from Truly Victorian's Grand Bustle, i.e pattern #108, or I might borrow from #101, the petticoat with wire bustle. What I love about it is the back ruffle, and I honestly think it'll look very nice steampunk wise, as a skirt. We'll see.
At the moment, I'm working on a corset from Laughing Moon for myself, and another from Corsets and Crinolines the 1820 in it's original size. I couldn't manage the design in my size, so I'm just making it for the sheer fun of doing so. Right now I'm waiting for fabric for both, so no images until I get started. If I can find my disc I can probably share the re-sized pattern for the corsets and crinolines 1820. It's pretty even on paper.
Along with those, I hope to get going on another walking skirt from Folkwear's patterns, a shirt waist from a 1912 pattern insert from La mode Illustree, and a steampunk variation of this, which is a sew along choice from Your Wardrobe Unlock'd

My take on it will be using the bolero, the waistcoat and a victorian promenade skirt from a later time, however still keeping the decoration of the original. I'm still deciding on the fabric, but in the meantime, I'll need that corset to go under it all.
If interested, you can find out more about the sewing project at http://yourwardrobeunlockd.com/ I believe you'd have to subscribe for the pattern project, but honestly for at least one month it's worth the cost. It's no more expensive than buying a magazine issue, and you'll find a few articles worth your while if you're interested in anything such as drafting, drafting a corset to your measurements, re-covering a pair of shoes to make them look vintage, etc etc.
